The new portal for applying for funding of preparatory courses for federal diplomas was launched in 2018. In 2019, SEFRI wanted to evaluate whether users manage to submit their applications without difficulties and to identify possible improvements in order to reduce the number of contacts users have with the support team.
We conducted qualitative interviews with 5 trainers and user tests with 6 students in the French and German speaking part of Switzerland in order to identify the obstacles to use during the application process and during the uploading of the courses by the trainers.
Tangible recommendations for improving the application and registration process for preparatory courses were developed and implemented following our intervention.
We have carried out several missions to optimise Swisstopo's internal and external tools :
1. User testing and wireframing of the map portal for the general public in order to improve the usability of advanced tools such as the possibility to draw and measure hiking routes
2. Wireframing of a measuring point management application in order to prepare a call for tender to redesign the existing tool
3. Interviews with expert operators and wireframing of the Swiss aerial image management portal in order to propose a more efficient and user-friendly tool
